Security and Maintenance
All
access to the image retrieval system is controlled by user passwords.
User friendly menu driven screens are provided to enable untrained
personnel to perform the following functions: image retrieval,
image printing, system statistics and status, system configuration,
and system diagnostics. Image retrieval is provided remotely using
a network connection or a dial up telephone line and high speed
modem. Images can be retrieved by: date and time, transaction
sequence number or camera location. The Control Suite - Configurator
program is used to set up and configure the security system for
a specific site. Generally access to this module will only be
allowed to system operators or licensed service personnel. Control
Suite - Service Manager will be used by service personnel to monitor
the health and maintain and repair the system. To enhance service
capability, the system provides remote service capability whereby
system diagnostics and software upgrades can be performed remotely.
To provide enhanced security, IRIS DVS continually monitors the
system status and will log all unusual events. Video sources will
be monitored to detect loss of signal or total white/black signal
as an indication of equipment failure or restricted viewing range.
Alarm conditions can be defined where the system will dial a remote
site and report the alarm.
| Recording Capacity |
| IRIS Introduced the first "tapeless" video recorder in 1994 enabling the customer to record images directly to a disk drive. Using the IRIS patented Motion Detection feature, the IRIS product line is capable of storing images on the hard drive for a longer time frame than most other conventional systems. The total recording time for each system depends on several user defined variables including: number of cameras, frames per second (fps) for each camera, hours recorded per day, image size, level of image compression, and drive size. The IRIS Disk Estimator allows you to get an estimate of the number of days your specific system will be capable of recording and allows you to determine the optimum disk size for your recording needs. |
